DOWNLOADING
To download a file from the site click on the text link below the sample graphic to download either a TTF or X3D file. A TTF file is the font you will need to install (see below) if you wish to recreate the same settings with the font shown in our sample.

EXTRACTING
All downloadable files on the site are saved in .ZIP format meaning you will need to extract the contents before you can use them. WinZip can be used to open .ZIP files.

FONT (TTF) INSTALLATION
In Windows click START then SETTINGS then CONTROL PANEL. From the Control Panel double click FONTS. Select File then Install New Font... In the following dialog box locate the font files you have extracted (unzipped), select them and then click OK. Please note that often Windows will not recognize fonts (TTF files) if you merely unzip them to the FONTS folder. It is better to do a proper install as above.

It has been reported to us that sometimes the "Install New Font..." option does not appear as outlined in the above process. One solution to this has proved to be using a font management application to install new fonts such as Printers Apprentice. For a detailed explanation and solution see the Other font management issues FAQ at Microsoft.

TERMS OF USE
All X3D source files as well as graphic tiles if included are free for personal and commercial use.

X3D FILES
X3D files can only be opened in Xara 3D; Version 4 & Version 5 have been used in their creation and is clearly indicated in the right side menu. All X3D files within the Holiday section were created in Version 4. All X3D files within the Textures section were created in Version 5.

Version 5 can open all Version 4 files but Version 4 cannot open files created in Version 5. If you don't have a copy Xara offers a fully functional 15 day trial version which can be downloaded here.

If you want to reproduce the samples on this site you will need to download and install the TTF file located on the same page where you find a X3D file you like. However you do not need to use the same font. If you don't have the last saved font installed when a X3D file is opened on your local computer you will be prompted that Xara 3D can not locate it and will default to Arial. Don't worry the bevel, extrusion etc settings will give a similiar effect no matter which font you use.

EDITING X3D FILES
All X3D files where last saved with "3D FONT FX" as the text. Simply open our X3D files and insert your own text for instant headings. Due to the height or width of characters in some TTF files we have adjusted the "Aspect ratio" of text in some X3D files so that our text would center properly in the samples. The "Aspect ratio" can be adjusted in the "Text options" window ( Options > Text... or ALT+T ).

All X3D files located within the X3D Files section and most of the X3D files located within the X3D Holiday section use the "Color options" ( Options > Color... or ALT+C ) feature. This feature allows you to define different colors for "Front and back only" or "Sides only". To modify our settings or to create your own in the "Color options" window select "Front and back only" in the drop down menu then pick your desired color from the color bar below. Next select "Sides only" in the drop down menu and select a color. This combination will also appear in the "Extrusion options" window.

All X3D files located within the X3D Textures section use the "Texture options" ( Options > Texture... or ALT+X ) feature introduced in Version 5. Similiar to the "Color options" feature described above this feature allows you to define different graphic tiles for "Front and back only" or "Sides only". Tints can also be applied over a graphic file. To modify our settings or to create your own in the "Textures options" window select "Front and back only" or "Sides only" in the drop down menu then select the "Texture" box. Click the "Load texture" button to load your desired graphic file from your hard drive. If you wish to add a tint over the graphic file select the "Tint" box then open the "Color options" window to select your desired tint. All downloads from these pages also contain the graphic file(s) used in the sample.
